FAMILY AND ADULT ART WORKSHOPS
Neighborhood Drawing with Marissa Perez
Have you noticed how beautiful our neighborhood is? So beautiful! Come and join us for a workshop where we will get out into the neighborhood to draw and paint. Drawing inspiration from artists who have worked “au plein air” we will take our drawing materials out into the world and engage with our beautiful neighborhood through drawing.
DAY/TIME: Wednesday, August 22, 10:30-1:30
AGES: 18+
LOCATION: Upstairs in Multipurpose Room C (MPR-C), before continuing outside

Block Printing Workshops with Marissa Perez
Come and explore the art and craft of Block Printing–no experience or artistic ability necessary! We will: create a collaborative print, learn to carve our blocks, and have time to create a solo print project. Materials will be provided.

Marissa Perez is an artist, educator and printmaker from Portland! She loves: collaborating on projects, making posters, drawing with friends, and hosting parties. You can find her printingt-shirts in a garage, teaching screen printing at the Independent Publishing Resource Center or in her neighborhood taking a stroll.
We are excited to introduce art workshops for adults and families! If you have a craft you’d like to learn more about, or are a teacher interested in leading a class at the NECC, let us know!
ART CLASSES
Drawing, Comics, and Play | Ages 5-8 with Marissa Perez
Let’s draw and get silly! In this class we will use different materials and methods to tell stories through drawing! We will play drawing games, get messy, use found materials and work together to figure out how we like to draw. If you love to draw with your friends then this is a class for you!

AGES: 5-8

Comics and Zine Exploration | Ages 9-12 with Marissa Perez
Let’s make our own comics and zines! In this class we will: draw together, develop characters, fold and bind zines, read comics, and have fun! Through collaboration, play, materials exploration and experimentation we will discover how we would like to draw and find the stories we want to tell. There are no bad drawings and no bad comics! Come create and play with us!

DANCE CLASSES WITH MARLON
Marlon is our long-time dance teacher and a former professional dancer. He is an experienced instructor who is passionate about working with children and is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing learning environment. This class is very low-stakes and does not have a competitive nature. We look forward to seeing everyone on the dance floor!
Pop & Hip-Hop Dance Classes
Pop & Hip Hop Dance with Marlon is the perfect class for kids who love to dance to their favorite music! This high-energy class focuses on fun, while teaching kids exciting dance routines to today’s top pop and hip hop hits (clean versions!). Each week, Marlon will break down the moves step by step, helping kids build confidence, coordination, and rhythm, all while dancing to the songs they know and love.
By the end of the session, your child will have learned a full dance routine, which they’ll perform in a casual showcase for friends and family on the last day of class. Plus, on that final day, participants can bring friends and family to watch the performance.

BREAKDANCING CLASSES
WeBreak Hip-Hop Dance Company
We’ve partnered with WeBreak Hip-Hop Dance Company to offer youth breakdancing classes for ages 3–12.
