The NECC is well-versed in following all Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidelines for summer camps/childcare related to COVID-19 health and sanitation measures.
TIMES: 9:00am-4:00pm
LUNCH: Lunch is not provided, please pack your child a meal. Families needing accommodation or assistance providing lunch should contact the NECC’s Youth Enrichment Coordinator.
POOL: The NECC has provided children and adults safe opportunities to use the pool throughout the pandemic. During all summer camps, children will have monitored open swim time in our pool.
If you would like your child to have the opportunity to swim, please send your child with a swimsuit, towel, and any extra bathroom supplies you think your child will need. Campers will use the universal locker room with private, individual changing stalls. A camp counselor will be in the pool with the children at all times and our head lifeguard will perform a daily skill check to use the deep end.
Children who do not wish to swim will be able to play with camp counselors in our Child Watch room.
ACCOMMODATIONS: To inquire about special accommodations, please reach out to the Youth Enrichment Coordinator, Ava Shannon, at youth@necommunitycenter.org. We are prepared to care for neurodivergent children and work with families to meet children’s specific needs. Please note that our program allows kids to have extended periods of free time, which can be challenging for children who succeed with more structure or more individualized guidance and redirection. If you would like to discuss if this would be the right fit for your child, please reach out to the program coordinator.
Refund Policy – Please review our refund policy as it has changed. A full refund is only available if the participant withdraws at least two weeks prior to the start of camp. If the participant withdraws between 5-13 days prior to camp, NECC will provide a 50% refund or account credit. We are unable to provide a refund or account credit if the participant withdraws fewer than 5 days prior to the start of camp.
Join us for a fun and enriching summer! Our camps allow youth to actively engage with their peers while creating themed crafts with our art teachers, playing group games, splashing in our indoor pool, and visiting Grant Park.
AGES: 6-11 (also open to kindergarteners who attended our After School Time program in 2022)
FEE: $350/week – generous financial assistance available through The Community Fund. Contact the NECC Front Desk for more information.
Campers will make a “team jersey”, learn the basics of soccer, basketball, kickball, and play fun relay and camp games with obstacle courses. Weather-permitting, many activities will be done outdoors. This camp will also incorporate craft time.
Campers change the destiny of plastic, metal, cardboard, scrap wood, and clothing by upcycling them into beautiful art with our art teachers at NECC! Learn how to give every day objects a second life. The NECC receives donations from Ridwell Recycling that allow us to provide exciting materials to the children!
This is a camp for Pokémon lovers! Campers will get the chance to trade Pokémon cards, talk about their collection, create Pokémon inspired art projects, and more! When campers aren’t trading cards they will jump in our warm water pool and head to the park!
$280/week – no camp on July 4
Campers release their inner wizard by creating a unique wand, conjuring art inspired projects from the world of Hogwarts, and playing Harry Potter-inspired games and sports. Campers will even get to try playing quidditch in the pool! Throughout the week, campers will get the chance to watch parts of the Harry Potter movies (Rated PG).
Campers get to put myths to the test! Each day campers will bust a new myth with interactive experiments. By the end of the week campers will have answers to these questions: Can you pull a tablecloth off a fully set table without anything breaking? Do you need a camera to take a picture? Do pop rocks and soda explode? When campers aren’t busting myths they will play camp games, go to the park, and splash in NECC’s pool!
Each day campers will get to participate in a new science experiment! Camp counselors will lead the children through exciting experiments like an egg drop from our gym track, volcanos, slime, and more. In addition to science experiments, all campers will have the chance to jump in NECC’s pool and play gym games. On Friday, campers will take the MAX and streetcar to OMSI!
*1 SPOT LEFT!* Aug 1-5 – Space Explorers Camp
Explore the wonders of space through crafts, simulations, and games. Learn the secrets of the starts with our art teachers, and build and launch your own rocket at Grant Park.

Bike safety and maintenance are the focus here! Campers learn the rules of the road, how to fix a flat tire, and how to complete their own bike maintenance and safety manual. Games and group rides teach riders proper biking safety. Campers will meet at the NECC each morning and end the day swimming in the NECC’s indoor pool.
Campers must be comfortable riding their bike on neighborhood roads and be able to keep up with a group of similarly aged children.
