Swim School Coordinator
Position Description. The NECC has a small pool with programs that make a big impact. We are searching for a candidate who shares our commitment to reducing incidents of drowning by teaching children, adults, and families how to swim. As part of our recently-adopted strategic plan, the NECC is seeking an aquatics professional who can broadly promote water safety and swimming competence in NE Portland, and who can deepen our service to the community by authentically connecting with BIPOC and Immigrant families and children who may experience historical or current barriers to swimming. - Full time position – Starting Salary $41,600 – eligible for health insurance benefits and paid time off
Part-Time Lifeguard
Position Description. NECC Lifeguards are primarily responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies in the aquatic area. We are a single guard pool, focusing on prevention. Additional responsibilities include monitoring pool chemicals and occasional maintenance tasks. A complete job description can be found here.

Swim Instructor
Position Description. NECC Swim Instructors teach swimming skills and water safety to children using the Red Cross Learn to Swim curriculum. We are seeking instructors who have a passion for aquatics, are able to work cooperatively with other instructors, are attentive and engaged with their students, and are able to incorporate diverse and fun activities into effective lessons. Child Watch Care Provider
Position Description. NECC’s Child Watch is a benefit to Family Members, providing a well-equipped, just-for-kids space to allow adult caregivers the opportunity to engage in NECC classes and programs. We have a great community atmosphere, and we are looking for the perfect fit to join our Child Watch team – someone who has previous experience supervising children, is excited about engaging with all ages, is comfortable with babies, and happily pitches in to keep the space clean and sanitized.

- This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 12 hours/week requiring the ability to work a flexible schedule, including morning, evening, and weekend shifts.
Group Fitness Instructor
Position Description. The NECC offers a wide variety of adult fitness classes serving all ages of the community. If you have experience working with a diverse population, can adapt your teaching style to serve various fitness levels, are creative with your class programming and value community, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering at NECC is a great way to meet new people. Camaraderie is the glue of the organization and an important element that strengthens the entire community. Volunteering provides an opportunity to meet members from all age groups and activity interests.
NECC Board of Directors
The NECC is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of Members and Non-Members who are committed to and actively participate in the stewardship of the NECC. Members attend a monthly Board meeting, and are asked to participate on a Board Committee. For more information, please contact the Executive Director, or stop by the Front Desk for a Board Membership application.

Building & Grounds Committee
The Building & Grounds Committee plans and organizes facility improvements and major maintenance projects for the NECC. The committee develops project budgets and priorities for the Board and manages Board approved projects.
Committee meets First Tuesday of the month from 9:00-10:30 AM.
Development Committee
Since the Northeast Community does not operate for profit, fundraising campaigns and events are necessary to assure that resources are sufficient to maintain the facility and to support programs. The committee plans events and campaigns to accomplish this fund raising.
