Simar Tate
I’m excited to be a personal trainer at NECC because it fosters an inclusive environment where individuals feel empowered to explore, maintain, and improve their movement and health in ways that are important to them.
Credentials: I hold an Associate Degree in Exercise Science from Portland Community College and am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Applied Health and Fitness at Portland State University. Along with my studies, I work as an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. I believe it is important to make both practices inclusive to queer and BIPOC identified people who are often underserved in the wellness industry.
Specialties: I enjoy utilizing resistance training and modern yoga to help people build strength and maintain independent mobility in ways that are practical to their lifestyle.
Goals: Movement health is a foundational component of our independence as we age. Let’s explore ways to make your fitness functional and relevant to your life.

Tina Oliva
Even before I started working at NECC, I was a member and always loved the community inclusivity.
Certifications: I am a Certified Personal Trainer and have completed the LesMills CXWORX certification plus many yoga modalities and The Melt Method.
Specialties: My focus is always on core strength. A strong core (essentially your entire torso) will go a long way in preventing injuries. Balance is another key focus and I always use these two specialties in a training session along with exercises that will strengthen areas around joints. Functional and compound movements are guaranteed in your session.
Goals: I want everyone to embody anti-fragility. I focus a great deal with strength and balance training which suits those over 50 but is also highly beneficial to all ages. Every body will benefit from personal training, whether you are an athlete or are new to a movement practice. I love positive working relationships, promoting empowerment, and maintaining independent living with confidence. My goal is to have you feel good in your body.
