Dear NECC Community,
I am thrilled to announce that after a rigorous selection process, the Northeast Community Center Board of Directors has appointed Sabrina “Bri” Slusser as our new Interim Executive Director. With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Bri brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to this vital role. Her time as CEO of the Humane Society of Central Oregon and extensive management experience with the YMCA make her exceptionally well-suited to lead us forward during this transitional period. With her leadership, we are confident that the NECC will continue to thrive and grow, setting a clear path for our future success. We are grateful for Bri’s commitment to guiding our community through this transition, and we look forward to working closely with her to ensure a smooth and successful tenure.
Please join me in welcoming Bri to the NECC!

A Message from Bri
I am excited to join the Northeast Community Center community. As a life-long athlete, I love working with a team. I played collegiate soccer and basketball at Linfield University. This passion for sports is what led me to my first job as the Youth Sports Director for the Westside Family YMCA. I had a great Executive Director at the Y. She saw my strengths and talents and encouraged me to attend trainings, engage with the community and mentored me about leadership. I was taught the importance of fundraising to expand the mission and help more children and families.
As the General Manager of RiverPlace Athletic Club, I greatly enjoyed seeing members every day and working with the team to provide innovative offerings to our membership. In this role, I worked with surrounding businesses to attract customers to the RiverPlace Promenade and created a passport program for our members and also created a pipeline of referrals to the club. I left the private health club setting and returned the YMCA of San Francisco as the Presidio YMCA Branch Manager. We had multiple buildings, including an aquatic center, tennis courts, fitness facility, multiple gyms, afterschool programs and onsite childcare.
My roots and family were in Oregon so I returned home to Bend and was the CEO of the Humane Society of Central Oregon. I had the pleasure of being able to work with talented staff and board members to increase the capacity of the organization. My last endeavor at the HSCO was to fund and purchase a veterinary medical van to serve the houseless and economically challenged in our service area. I retired from this position at the end of July 2023.
My partner and I have two boys and two dogs. We enjoy being outside, traveling the world and locally to soccer tournaments, listening to music, working out, pickleball, golf, good wine and spending time with friends and family. I believe in being authentic, working smart, taking calculated risks, developing people and having fun. While being retired has been fun, and honesty I don’t know where my days go at times, I need a sense of purpose. This is what enticed me about the Interim Executive Director position. I am excited to work with the staff, volunteers and board and I look forward to meeting all of you in the NECC community.
