Fitness Class Hiatus will start Aug 25 and go through Sept 7. We do realize that this hiatus impacts our Members, and in order to support your fitness goals, we have the following opportunities:
Water Workout classes, Summer Challenge Power Class, and our Fitness staff have created a challenging 45-minute High-Intensity Circuit, as well as a yoga routine. These handouts are available at the Front Desk.
The Northeast Community Center is “waaaay more than a fitness center.” It is a place where kids, families, and individuals of all ages come to build strong bodies & active minds.
We get in shape, and we get inspired. NECC membership includes more than 70 Adult Fitness, Yoga, Zumba & Aquatics classes, Child Watch, Family Activities, Movies in the Pool, Open Swim, and Outreach and Volunteer activities. We have a diverse offering of youth sports & activities, including Red Cross Swim Lessons, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Sports Class, Summer Camps, Workshops, and more!
We’re about people, not about profit. The NECC is an independent, non-profit community center, serving the youth, families, and individuals who live, work, and play in our community. We connect with our community by hosting special interest Workshops and Classes, including Water Color Painting, Parkinson’s Movement Class, First Aid Training, and Food & Clothing Drives. With our community partners, we support programs that improve the lives of our neighbors and strengthen our community.
NECC Membership isn’t about joining a club – it’s about becoming part of a healthy, caring community. If this sounds like your kind of place, come by for a tour and free guest pass.
**INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY (updated 1/5/14) ** See Inclement Weather Information
It’s the NECC’s policy to keep the facility open during all scheduled hours, whenever possible. The Acting Building Supervisor retains the discretion to close the facility at any time for the safety of the Members, Guests, and Staff.
The NECC follows the Portland Public Schools’ closure schedule for all classes and activities. If PPS is closed, NECC classes and activities are cancelled for that day. In the event that PPS announces a late start or closure after any NECC morning classes have started, those classes will be completed; all other NECC classes and activities for the day will be cancelled. If classes and activities are cancelled due to inclement weather, we will strive to keep the NECC facility open for drop-in use. You can check the Portland Public Schools website for information about late opening or closures.
If inclement weather occurs on the weekend, or if you have questions about whether the facility is open and/or classes and activities are occurring, please contact the NECC facility at 503-284-3377, or check the NECC website at www.necommunitycenter.org.
