NE Village
NE Village PDX is part of a growing nationwide movement of volunteer-led, grassroots organizations that operate to change the paradigm of aging. Using a neighbor-to-neighbor approach to support adults 60+ to remain independent and active while they age in their homes, Village volunteers provide services and social connection to community members. NE Village PDX serves 16 neighborhoods in Northeast Portland. Click here to see NE Village’s service area.
Since its establishment in 2016 through the end of 2022, NE Village was an independent organization with its own Governing Council. The Village operated under an umbrella nonprofit organization called Villages Northwest that also provides support to ten other Villages throughout the Portland Metro Area. Each Village operates as a separate entity and membership is open to people who reside within the individual Village’s geographic boundaries.
On January 1, 2023, the NE Village PDX merged with the NE Community Center (NECC) and became an official Program of the Center. NECC’s programs and activities are similarly designed to build and support intergenerational community in NE Portland. Together, we are committed to growing our programming, expanding financial support, and embedding equity and inclusion into our work in all that we do.
Village members have access to a wide range of services (transportation, help with organizing, yard work, technological assistance, and more), all of which are provided by volunteers. The Village also offers a diverse array of activities and events including book clubs, morning coffee gatherings, dinner outings, happy hours, and support groups, and educational presentations. In addition, members and volunteers all play an integral role in decision-making and supporting the operations of the Village. Through this support and connection, Village Members remain an integral part of the NE Portland community in which they live.
We are excited about the opportunities this merger will bring, and look forward to seeing how our collective efforts can positively impact the experience of aging for neighbors across NE Portland.
What does an NEV Membership offer?
The Village offers two tiers of Membership: Full Service and Associate. Full-Service Members have access to social and educational activities, and a range of helpful services provided by volunteers. Associate members enjoy the full array of social and educational offerings in the Village, and a limited number of volunteer services. Click here for more information about Village Membership.

No. At this time, there are no automatic membership benefits or discounts between NECC members and members of the NEV Program. NECC members are welcome to become NEV members and vice versa. In fact, many long time NECC members are also members of NEV!
