Get to Know our PCC Yoga Interns
We are pleased to introduce you to two Yoga interns from Portland Community College, Shanele Pettit and Kristi Albrechtson. Starting in July, Shanele and Kristi will be offering Community Yoga Classes through their NECC internships, and they will also be adding to our online, on-demand library.
We’re thrilled they are joining us and will be leading classes. Check out their weekly classes by heading to our Live Fitness page. These classes are open to anyone – so please share with friends and family!
Shanele Pettit
Yoga Intern: Specialties Mommy and Me, Family Yoga
Live Class: Family Yoga on Saturdays at 11 AM | JUL 11 – AUG 15
Shanele moved to Oregon in 2013 to pursue a career in healthcare. After getting her Diploma for Administrative Medical Assisting, she later found a job working at a chiropractic office. It was Chiropractic care that introduced her to her passion of the Health & Wellness industry and wanted to give back to her community in ways that she hasn’t before. Shanele learned that in order to live a healthy and thriving life, you must take care of your mind body and spirit.
She started her own journey to educate herself on nutrition, physical activity, and discipline through Portland Community College. After she gets her degree in Exercise Science, Shanele hopes to educate the community in similar ways.
Kristi Albrechtson
Yoga Intern: Specialties Gentle and Hatha Yoga
Live Class: Gentle Yoga on Wednesdays at 11 AM | JUL 15 – AUG 12
My name is Kristi. I have been practicing yoga since 2000 and have been blessed to have many incredible teachers. I believe yoga is for everyone and wish to share with as many humans as possible, an honor and a privilege that I hold dear. This practice has helped me to strengthen my body and spirit. Hatha yoga has been my main focus but life has led me to study Kundalini, Ashtanga, Vinyasa and mindfulness meditation as well. In my class I will provide a fun atmosphere where everyone is welcome. My hope is that you leave my class feeling better than when you arrived.
Currently I am working on my yoga teaching certificate through PCC where I also study exercise science. I am excited to spend the summer in practicum with Northeast Community Center sharing my practice with you.
