Spring Ballet

Creative Choreography will be our main focus for this 11 week class series. In addition to improving our classical ballet vocabulary and learning new ballet steps, students will have the opportunity to contribute to our classes with their own ideas for movement and share what inspires them. Each child is a unique creative artist and the Instructor, Katarina, looks forward to creating a place where they can share their talents with us all. Class observation will be held on Tuesday, June 2nd and Thursday, June 4th during your child’s regular scheduled class time prior to our last week of classes on June 9th and 11th.

Pre-Ballet   Introduces classical ballet steps and french terminology with incorporating creative movement in a encouraging and joyful environment. Students are given individual attention and guidance. Classes often incorporate Free Dance to give children the opportunity for self-expression. We will also work with the ballet barre, explore story ballets, and learn a piece of choreography about the ballet.

Ages: 3-4 . 4-5 . 5-6

A leotard with or without skirt, or their favorite tutu is acceptable. Pink footed tights with pink, real leather-soled ballet slippers preferred; if no slippers, please be barefoot.

Creative Ballet  A great class for both boys, girls, and a child that requires a more high energy approach to movement. We will learn the same fundamentals as taught in Pre-Ballet with a more free, creative, and less structured approach. Students will learn ballet fundamentals and French terminology in a very fun, high energy environment. They will create their own movements and act out story dances. Core strength, balance, coordination, acting, and rhythm are just part of everyday class.

Ages: 4-6

Please wear clothing suited for movement. Feet need to be bare or leather-soled ballet slippers. The Leotard located on MLK has everything you need as well. www.theleotard.com

Ballet I/II  Builds on the fundamentals learned in Pre-Ballet. This class requires more focus and body awareness, and continues the work of nurturing the individual dancer in each child. In addition to the Pre-Ballet description, we continue our ballet journey together by focusing on correct ballet position, lines and posture, and memorizing combinations and choreography.

Ballet I Ages: 6-7 / Ballet II Ages: 7-9

Girls: A leotard (any color), pink footed tights and pink leather ballet slippers for the girls. No skirts. Hair in a bun with bangs pulled back. Boys: Black footed tights, white t-shirt tucked in, black leather ballet slippers.
