Basketball FUNdamentals Class (4wks)

FUNdamentals of shooting, passing, and dribbling will be taught with the emphasis on FUN! This class will help prepare your child for future basketball leagues. Please bring a water bottle and wear appropriate shoes.  See More Information

Family Sport
Come and enjoy each other in the gym with an organized game such as floor hockey, volleyball or kickball. Families that play together stay together.

Family Yoga – Included with Membership!
Reduce stress, gain balance, get limber and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep after our light-hearted family yoga practice. Join us in the gym to see how fun it can be to integrate yoga into our weekly routine! This class is included in your membership and guests are welcome for a drop-in fee.

Dance & Movement

Pre-Ballet     See More Information

Classes nurture your child’s interest in dance while increasing coordination, grace, acting, concentration, flexibility, balance, and ability to follow instructions. Students are given individual attention and guidance. Classes often incorporate Free Dance to give children the opportunity for self-expression. We will also work with the ballet barre, explore story ballets, and learn a piece of choreography about the ballet. A leotard with or without skirt, or their favorite tutu is acceptable. Pink footed tights with pink, real leather-soled ballet slippers preferred; if no slippers, please be barefoot.


Creative Ballet    See More Information

Students will learn ballet fundamentals and French terminology in a very fun environment. They will create their own movements, acting out a story dance, and lear a bit of German. Core strength, balance, coordination, acting, and rhythm are just part of every day class. Please wear clothing suited for movement. Feet need to be bare or wear leather soled ballet slippers. The Leotard located on MLK has everything you need as well.

- In addition to the Pre-Ballet description, we continue our ballet journey together by focusing on correct ballet position, lines and posture, and memorizing combinations and choreography. -Girls: A leotard (any color), pink footed tights and pink leather ballet slippers for the girls. No skirts. Hair in a bun with bangs pulled back. -Boys: Black footed tights, white t-shirt tucked in, black leather ballet slippers. (please bring a cape if you have one)

P.E. and Me & Gym Games Galore! –NEW!
Run, jump, skip, throw, shoot, and move your way to a healthy morning. Learn a bit about teamwork and leadership while participating in in traditional PE games such as tag and relays as well as touch of kickball, soccer and basketball.  See More Information

Soccer Class
Come get a terrific workout in a positive, low-key setting with an experienced coach. Focus will be on teaching the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork, with a scrimmage game at the end of each class. Perfect for the beginner or player looking to sharpen skills and stay fit.

Volleyball Private Lessons – NEW!
Private and Semi-Private lessons available for all ages and ability levels! Private Lessons are a perfect way for volleyball players trying to get the most out of the game improve their talents and become a more competitive athlete.

Coach Bios

Coach Miranda Coonrod is the co-director and coach with a local club team, Fire Volleyball. She has been coaching club for the past 11 years, and was a junior club player for 3 years. While in high school, Miranda played on the varsity team for 3 years as the middle blocker, and was awarded MVP by her teammates and coaches. During this time, she was also a volunteer coach for the Community Education Program. After High School, Miranda went on to play middle blocker for Clark College. Miranda had the #1 blocking average and the 11th best hitting average in 2003. She was also awarded 2nd Team All League. She currently works here at the NECC as our Operations Associate!

Coach Kelsey Kai captained her Reynolds High School team as a senior and graduated from Reynolds in 2009. She was named team MVP as a junior and senior, was a two-time winner of the Raider Award, selected for the National Guard “You Can” Award, and was a three-time all-conference selection. She also played for the Northwest Juniors Club for seven years. She went on to play volleyball at Mt. Hood Community College in 2009-2011 where she was two-time all-conference selection as Libero. Kelsey was a Defensive Specialist for Concordia University. She is pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.

Volunteer coaches will be required to pass a background check, fill out a coaches screening, and attend a coaches training meeting. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Kim Cederholm at


Volleyball Skills
Basic skill development of passing, setting, serving, and hitting in a fun and positive environment. All skill levels are welcome. Players will be divided into groups depending on their skill level. Please being a water bottle and wear appropriate shoes.

Parent’s Night Out – Member Perk!
Come bring your kids to play gym games, and enjoy a movie and healthy snacks while the parents have some time to themselves! Dinner will NOT be provided — please feed your children before dropping them off. Bringing snacks is acceptable. Young children must be potty-trained to participate.

Registration Policies:

Registration is not required for classes that are included with membership. Fee-based and enrichment classes require preregistration.
Our classes must meet minimum and maximum enrollment standards. Classes may fill quickly or classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment.
NECC Refund Policy: Full refunds are available only if the participant withdraws at least three days prior to the start of the class or activity. If the participant withdraws less than three days prior to the start of the class or activity, participant will receive a credit to their NECC account for the full amount paid for the class or activity. That credit can be applied towards any future NECC class or activity, and it will expire one year from the date of issue. If the participant withdraws after the class has begun, NECC is unable to provide a refund or credit.
