NECC’s Active Older Adults (AOA) programs encourage and support wellness in mind, body, and spirit for older adults through fitness programs, fellowship, and community service.
Potlucks, Socials, and Trips
The following classes are included with NECC Membership. Non-Members and guests are welcome to attend with payment of a daily drop-in fee.
AOA Aerobics – Gymnasium
This class builds endurance and strength, as well as increasing bone density. Increased flexibility, correct posture, and improved balance and coordination are also welcomed benefits of this class.

AOA Circuit Training – Fitness Room
This class is designed to build strength by working the major muscle groups of the body through resistance or weight training exercise. The circuit enables each participant to work out at his/her individual intensity and ability level. (equipment orientation that is a benefit of membership is a prerequisite for this class – see the Front Desk for more information)
Tues/Thurs 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Deep Water Workout – Pool
A low-impact workout held in neck-deep water, typically in the deep end of the pool with a flotation device (some classes utilize the shallow end for stretching). NECC provides noodles, hand buoys, and optional free weights.

Joints in Motion – Pool
The Joints in Motion class is informed by the Arthritis Foundation curriculum and focuses on range of motion rather than aerobics. This class is great for those challenged by Arthritis, Parkinson’s, Lupus, and stroke recovery, among others.
Mon/Wed/Fri 9:45 am – 10:30 am
Senior Exercise – Pool
Senior Exercise emphasizes maintaining and improving range of motion, incorporates elements from the Joints In Motion class. and is similar to the Water Workout class but movements are performed at a lower intensity. NECC provides noodles, hand buoys, and optional free weights.
