Boot Camp

The NECC Boot Camp is an intensive, six week training course created to get people into great shape as quickly as possible. The class will include exercise regimens from the U.S. Army, Yoga and Pilates, athletic drills from a number of popular sports, plyometrics, body weight exercises, as well as resistance and weight training. The work outs will change from class to class, confusing your muscles in order to keep your body from becoming accustomed to one type of routine which maximizes the results you desire. We will also perform High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) throughout the duration of the program. This has not only been proven to shed weight faster than slow and steady aerobic exercises, but to improve cardiovascular health faster too.

When the weather is still cold and dreary, we will be drilling indoors, under the roof of the gymnasium. However, when the weather becomes the welcoming sunshine of spring and summer, we will be venturing outdoors to one of our local parks. Personal trainer, Patrick Johnston, will lead the NECC Boot Camp and will questions about working out on your own and eating to achieve your fitness goals.

willPower and Grace

“willPower and Grace” (wPG) is a unique barefoot fitness program that combines exercises from Pilates, yoga, and modern dance to create a variable-impact cardiovascular and strength training workout that will make you smile as much as you sweat. When NECC offered this class before, members loved it! wPG originated in New York and there aren’t many teachers on the west coast so NECC is thrilled that one of our talented Zumba teachers, Rebecca Mayer, recently completed training to lead wPG. Rebecca stresses that “barefoot training improves balance and body awareness and conditions the feet and ankles to prevent injuries. I strive to make all of my classes safe, surprising, and fun. As a trained professional dancer, I am a sincere believer in the strong potential of each individual’s entire body, particularly the feet.”

For those looking for something new, willPower and Grace is a great way to supplement other fitness classes including Zumba. If you’re looking for an uplifting hour of full body fitness, this class is for you!

Included with membership! Please see our Activities & Fitness page for details.
