Small Group Training – Members Only
Small Group Training is a cost-effective opportunity to receive individualized instruction from a personal trainer. Small groups are limited to 6 participants, run for 6 weeks, and often focus on a specific training goal.
FEE: Members only, $99
Small Group Training for Runners
Focus on building strong hips and core for optimal, injury-free running.
TIME: Wednesdays, 9:30-10:30am
DATES: January 10-February 14
Small Group Training for Women’s Strength
Build and shape muscles, move better, and feel great. A perfect introduction into how strength training can work for you.
TIME: Wednesdays, 6-7pm

Jennifer Darling – NECC Adult Fitness and Wellness Coordinator
Jennifer has both a BA in Interpersonal and Public Communication and an MA in Theatre Arts, but she fell in love with running and developed a passion for fitness. Jennifer teaches group fitness classes at the NECC and throughout the Portland Metro area, and she has worked in the City of Portland’s Wellness Program, teaching classes and focusing on implementing creative wellness programming. Jennifer’s primary goals are to help NECC members reach their fitness and wellness goals in a supportive environment, and to find opportunities to reach out to the community and connect NECC’s programs to a broader audience of adults with varying ages and physical abilities.
Zach Ovall is a certified personal trainer and fitness coach. As a trainer, Zach will work with you to establish and pursue your goals. His expertise in in effective movement patterns, varied and interesting workouts, and establishing healthy action patterns outside the gym. People from all walks of life can and will find a path to a better life with fitness coaching. He’s excited to join the team at Northeast Community Center, and to help you be your best.
Kimberly loves helping people adopt health habits for the sake of health and well-being. There is nothing that beats the feeling after a good, fun workout and she wants to share that with NECC members. Kimberly is a ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Running Coach. She has experience working with a wide variety of populations including strength and conditioning, endurance training, injury prevention, wellness coaching, post natal fitness, and active older adults.
Katie Surbrook is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, with specialty education in TRX Training Systems and Sports Conditioning. She specializes in functional movements, strength and conditioning and has trained people of all ages and abilities, taking joy in helping you “find your stronger.”
Katie teaches Friday mornings Full Body Fitness at NECC and is the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Clark College Women’s Soccer program in Vancouver, WA. Her lifelong passion for fitness was inspired by her grandfather, Mr. Oregon, Bodybuilding Champion 1948 Toni Rizzo.
