KATY ELLIS O'BRIEN Katy Ellis O'Brien is a painter and cartoonist who aims to create picture books for adults, in which cute animal characters are faced with harsh reality. She has published a minicomic, "Feather Heart," and hopes to turn her latest series "The Kilkenny Cats" into a full color book. In addition to her personal work, Katy is an active member of the art community in Northeast Portland and beyond. She teaches cartooning workshops for children at Cosmic Monkey Comics and does design work for Jazzkats Coffee Bar. She's also an editor for the Stumptown Underground anthology. Katy was born roughly 25 years ago in Forest Grove, Oregon, and earned her degree in visual art and art history from The Evergreen State College. She now resides in the Hollywood District. The NECC Art Gallery
The Northeast Community Center looks forward to promoting artists within the NECC community. Each month, an artist will display his/her work in the center's lobby where all the members and guests can see. There are also once a month artist receptions in conjunction with the Hollywood District Celebrations. |
